Mid-Michigan AIChE Scholarship Information

The Mid-Michigan section of AIChE is pleased to offer an exciting scholarship opportunity to students in the Tri-Cities area.  The purpose of this award is to promote the vision of the AIChE by offering financial support to students who wish to study and ultimately become professionals in the field of chemical engineering.

General Description: A $2000 scholarship awarded over 4 years to a graduating high school senior who plans to study chemical engineering at an accredited university or college.  The scholarship will reward past academic performance as well as school and community involvement; it is not strictly based on financial need.  It is intended for a student who has demonstrated a high proficiency in core academic courses and who has a high probability of success at obtaining a chemical engineering degree and becoming a practicing engineer.

Eligibility:The scholarship is open to all graduating high school seniors in Mid-Michiganís Tri-City area and neighboring counties who are interested in chemical engineering and have intentions of entering an accredited engineering curriculum. If you are not enrolling in a 4-year institution with an accredited chemical engineering program, we ask that you demonstrate that your alternative program has been designed to result in a ChE degree from an accredited institution

Application Requirements

  1. Application -  Students must complete the Web-based application form and submit a copy of their high school transcripts. The application includes some basic demographic information, high school grade point average, class rank, awards & honors, other scholarships received or applied for, and a short essay on why the applicant wants to pursue a degree in chemical engineering.
  2. Letters of Recommendation - At least one recommendation is required from someone who has influenced you to pursue a career in chemical engineering. Up to two additional teachers, counselor, or other recommendations are encouraged. We have provided guidelines for your letters of recommendation that you can print and give to your references to assist them in preparing your recommendation.
  3. Transcripts - After completing and submitting the electronic form, a copy of the applicantís high school grades/transcripts must also be submitted, for receipt by Friday April 18th, 2014.
