Mid-Michigan Section Scholarships

Scholarship Purpose:  To promote the vision of the AIChE by offering financial support to students who wish to study and ultimately become professionals in the field of chemical engineering.
This  $2000 scholarship is awarded over 4 years to a graduating high school senior who plans to study chemical engineering at an accredited university or college.

The section is currently accepting scholarship applications for Fall 2012.

This flyer is available to advertise the scholarship.

Past winners of the scholarship can re-apply prior to the upcoming academic year.

The Section did not award a university scholarship in 2011.

Our 2010 Scholarship winner was Kimberly Dinh of Midland.

Scholarship Purpose:  To promote education of  future engineers through the opportunity to explore careers and develop skills in engineering and science.
The Summer Youth Program is a one-week program at the Michigan Technological University (MTU) campus, which gives students an opportunity to explore careers and develop skills.  The students will participate in laboratory, classroom and field experiences in a selected career area.  The scholarship covers room, board, tuition, and a $100 travel allotment for a one-week session at the Michigan Technological University Summer Youth Program.

The section is now accepting applications for the Summer 2012 MTU Summer Youth Program.

This flyer is available to advertise the Summer Youth Program scholarship.

In 2011, the Section awarded a scholarship for the Michigan Tech Summer Youth Program to Charnay Gloss, a sophomore at Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw and a member of the National Honors Society.  The scholarship was presented by Norm Lake on behalf of the Scholarship committee.  Charnay is interested in forensic science as applied to criminal justice.  She plans to take a psychology class and extra science and math classes at Delta college while in high school to get a head start.  She has all honors classes at her high school and is maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.  Charnay also serves as a volunteer at Willie E. Thompson middle school, helping kids there with their homework in a program called 21st Century.  She also plays two varsity sports, basketball and track and field.
