Scholarship Purpose:
To promote the vision of the
AIChE by offering financial support to students who wish to study and
ultimately become professionals in the field of chemical engineering.

This $2000 scholarship is awarded over 4 years
to a graduating high school senior who plans to study chemical engineering
at an accredited university or college.
The section is
currently accepting scholarship applications for
Fall 2012.
This flyer is available to advertise the scholarship.
Past winners of the
scholarship can re-apply prior to the upcoming academic year.
The Section did not award a university
scholarship in 2011.
Our 2010 Scholarship winner was Kimberly

of Midland.

Scholarship Purpose:
To promote education of future engineers through the opportunity
to explore careers and develop skills in engineering and science. |
The
Summer Youth Program is a one-week program at the Michigan Technological University
(MTU) campus, which gives students an opportunity to explore
careers and develop skills. The students will
participate in laboratory, classroom and field experiences
in a selected career area. The scholarship covers
room, board, tuition, and a $100 travel allotment for a
one-week session at the Michigan Technological University Summer Youth Program.
The section is now accepting
applications for the Summer 2012 MTU Summer Youth
Program.

Program scholarship.
In 2011, the Section awarded a scholarship for the Michigan
Tech Summer Youth Program to Charnay Gloss,
a sophomore at Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw and a
member of the National Honors Society.
The scholarship was presented by Norm Lake on behalf
of the Scholarship committee.
Charnay is interested in forensic science as applied
to criminal justice.
She plans to take a psychology class and extra
science and math classes at Delta college while in high
school to get a head start.
She has all honors classes at her high school and is
maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.
Charnay also serves as a volunteer at Willie E.
Thompson middle school, helping kids there with their
homework in a program called 21st Century.
She also plays two varsity sports, basketball and
track and field.
